The book features a full-page portrait of Dr. Chase, a frontispiece illustration of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, a full-page illustration of Dr. Chase's Office in Ann Arbor, and a few in-text illustrations. Nicely bound in full supple leather with gilt lettering and designs on the covers and spine. "An Invaluable Collection of About Eight Hundred Practical Recipes, for Merchants, Grocers, Saloon-Keepers, Physicians, Druggists, Tanners, Shoe Makers, Harness Makers, Painters, Jewelers, Blacksmiths, Tinners, Gunsmiths, Farriers, Barbers, Bakers, Dyers, Renovators, Farmers, and Families Generally. To Which is Added a Rational Treatment of Pleurisy, Inflammation of the Lungs, and other Inflammatory Diseases, and also for General Female Debility and Irregularities."
