Description
Ipitek Dielectric Electromagnetic Field Probe (DEFP) – Advanced Wideband Electro-Optic Sensor This listing is for a rare and innovative Dielectric Electromagnetic Field Probe (DEFP) developed by Ipitek as part of advanced R&D initiatives. This probe was designed for high-frequency electromagnetic field detection and signal intercept applications, making it a cutting-edge tool for RF testing, research, and defense-related measurement environments. Key Features: All-Dielectric Construction : Non-metallic design allows for minimal field disturbance and safer deployment in sensitive electromagnetic environments. Electro-Optic Polymer Technology : Uses Ipitek’s proprietary EO polymers, which offer extremely high sensitivity to electric fields and fast response times. The EO MZ probe technology allows for electromagnetic fields to be measured extremely precisely without disturbing the field. Wideband Frequency Response : Capable of detecting signals in a broad frequency range, including millimeter-wave (mmW) bands up to 120 GHz . Remote Field Sensing : Engineered for real-world field use, the DEFP can detect low-power RF sources (tens of watts) from distances over 1 kilometer . High Performance : Built on optical modulator technology with specs such as 110 GHz bandwidth , 106 dB electrical SNR , and ~1 V Vπ . Military & Commercial Applications : Originally designed for applications in RF photonics , telecommunications , signal tracking , and EM field mapping . Background: This unit was developed with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of funding. It represents a unique integration of optical and RF technologies, offering advantages over conventional glass or crystalline-based RF photonic systems, including: Lower excess loss Higher optical efficiency Improved power handling More cost-effective manufacturing Components: This unit contains 4 of each of the following components: EOSPACE Lithium Niobate Phase Modulator (4 units) AOI 1310nm DFB lasers with driver boards (4 units) LDTC052 Laser Diode Driver and Temp Controller (4 units) DSC-R402 Optical Receiver (4 units) A sample of Ipitek's custom EO polymer (approximately 2-3 grams) Please note: I cannot confirm that this is the same EO polymer referenced in the literature of the DEFP Potentially other components that I am unable to identify Condition: Sold as-is for research, parts, or display. May not be operational without supporting systems. The switches they used on the back were very fragile, and 3 of them broke during transportation. They should be replaced, probably with more durable ones, before turning on the machine according to the warning on the back of the machine. This unit was most likely manufactured around 2005-2006 and kept as a lab unit until the company's closure in 2025. International sale: This item will NOT ship internationally. Shipping within lower 48 states only. Disclaimer: This sample is provided as-is , with no claims of functionality. It is not guaranteed for operational or experimental use. The items included in this sale were acquired with permission of Ipitek during the closure of the company.

The item was exactly as described but I'm leaving a good review because the item came unable to work and sheridansgoods issued me an entire refund of the purchase because of the defective item not only that they were quick with communication and it seems like they believe in selling good products

I bought a Mac mini, sent to me swiftly, packaging was okay. When I turned it on, it seemed to damaged. Sent photos to the seller, and they provided a refund. Since I got a refund, it was a neutral experience, as I paid, waited, tested it, got a refund, but spent a lot of time. 😬
